What is ChessDotes 64 Squares?
ChessDotes 64 Squares (formerly Ratnagiri Chess Academy) is a platform dedicated to chess learning, tournaments and community building. We offer coaching, organise events, and share live updates and analysis of chess games.
Who can join?
Anyone with an interest in chess, from absolute beginners to advanced players. We offer training programmes for all age groups and skill levels.
Are classes online or in person?
Both. Students can attend over-the-board classes in Ratnagiri or learn online from home over Zoom, Google Meet or Skype. We currently coach students in nine countries.
Do you offer one-to-one or group coaching?
Both. One-to-one coaching gives personal attention, flexible timings and a syllabus built around the player’s style. Group coaching lets students learn from each other through activities, simultaneous sessions and championships.
How is the course structured?
Our curriculum has six levels, named after the chess pieces: The Pawns, Knights, Bishops, Rooks, Queens and Kings. It runs from the basic rules all the way to tournament preparation. See the course page for what each level covers.
Which level should my child start at?
Get in touch and tell us about the player’s age and experience. We’ll recommend the right starting level.
Will students get to play tournaments?
Yes. We run regular events organised exclusively for academy students, and help students prepare for state, national and international tournaments.
Do you run chess programmes for schools?
Yes. Our Chess in School programme is delivered by All India Chess Federation certified trainers. Contact us to bring chess to your school.
