Why we changed our name

When the academy started, the name Ratnagiri Chess Academy described exactly what we were: a place in Ratnagiri where children learned chess. Over the years, the academy grew. Students began travelling to district, state and national tournaments. We started organising events ourselves. Families from outside the city began asking about classes.

We wanted a name that could grow with that story. Chess has 64 squares, and every one of them matters. One weak square can decide a game. One well-placed knight can control the whole board. We see our students the same way. Every child brings something different: patience, imagination, fighting spirit, calculation. Our job is to help each of those strengths find its square.

“ChessDotes” is about the stories that chess creates: the first checkmate, the comeback from a lost position, the tournament where everything clicks. We want to help more children in Ratnagiri write those stories, and we want to share them.

“The name on the board has changed. The game goes on.”

A website built for parents and players

The new website brings everything together in one place. You can read about our courses, see our students’ achievements, browse photos from past events, and follow top games on our Live Chess page.

A weekly blog

Parents ask us the same important questions every year: when to start, how tournaments work, how to get a FIDE rating, how to balance chess with studies. Our blog answers these in detail, one topic a week, so every family has the information in one place.

More events

Organising tournaments is now a bigger part of what we do. We help schools, societies and organisers plan and run chess events from start to finish. You can read more on our services page.
